Steelcase WorkLife Singapore recently relocated and opened its doors after major design and construction work in new premises in the established creative commune of Mount Sophia Old School in Singapore. This new working showroom will enable Steelcase to better showcase the latest knowledge, products and services in Singapore and the region.

Like all Steelcase WorkLife centers located in major cities around the world, Steelcase WorkLife Singapore represents a strategic investment by Steelcase in the region, and comes on top of significant investments to expand the product portfolio, manufacturing and distribution capabilities in Asia Pacific. It is a major step towards achieving the company's goal of being the leading manufacturer of office environments in Asia Pacific, able to support the expansion plans of Steelcase's global customers throughout Asia.

Mr. Uli Gwinner, President of Steelcase Asia Pacific, officiated at the opening ceremony and met with Steelcase customers, members of the media, and Singapore's leading designers. At the opening, he said: "We see Singapore as strategically important for Steelcase in the region. Not only does it have an attractive domestic market, but also with its strong regional linkages it is a platform for us to expand into South East Asia, a region with rapid growth dynamics."

Mr. Gwinner went on to explain: "At Steelcase our goal is the strategic application of space; helping organizations move away from a product mindset and map their physical and virtual workplaces to their unique business model. With a sales presence across the region, we are able to leverage our network to better serve our customers' needs."

To celebrate the opening, Steelcase invited 12 of Singapore's best known architects, designers and creative artists to re-fashion Steelcase' multi-award winning Think chair. The 12 Think creations were on display during the opening, and were later exhibited for one week at an art space in the Old School complex.
